Leh, April 21 (KNO): After the schools, the authorities in the Union Territory of Ladakh have ordered the closure of Higher Educational Institutions across the region given the steep rise in positive cases on regular basis.
According to an order, a copy of which lies with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), issued by Secretary Higher Education, Padma Angmo, "On the basis of the Covid-19 assessment, it is hereby ordered that the classroom teaching in all the higher educational institutions in Ladakh shall remain suspended till 30h April, 2021."
The University/Colleges/Institutes shall resort to online classes during the period, reads the order.
It reads that "However, the University/Colleges/Institutes may decide to continue the on-going and forthcoming examinations as well as the laboratory work, research, internship etc requiring physical presence, with strict compliance of COVID protocols."
Notably, earlier last week Deputy Commissioner Leh ordered the closure of classwork up to the 12th standard till 30.04.2021
Ladakh has reported a total of 12556 cases of which 2274 from Kargil and 10282 in Leh with an 85 per cent recovery rate of which 8462 (82%) belong to Leh and 2148 (94%) recovered cases belong to Kargil taking to total toll to 10610 (85%)—(KNO)
